The elegant four-storey office building at the Lange Gasse in Basel has around 300 workplaces and was planned in 2000 by the architects Burkhardt + Partner and implemented by
Allreal.
General Planning Poloni gmbh carries out a dual mandate in this building. On the one hand, it is responsible for the planning and realisation of the basic extension for the owner AXA and, at the same time, for the tenant extension for LGT Bank (Switzerland) Ltd.
The focus of the basic expansion was the renewal of the infrastructure and the possibility of using the building as a multi-tenant in the future. As a result of the drastic measures, the building was also adapted to the latest standards and guidelines via the permit conditions. Topics such as fire protection, disabled-friendly construction, sustainable building technology and building automation have become the central task and bring the commercial building up to date with the latest technology.
The entire conversion took place during operation. Professional coordination and communication with owners and tenants was of the highest priority and enabled a smooth construction phase.
Respectful restraint was the focus of the architectural task.
The visual functionality of various elements was deliberately chosen with a current but timeless design.
As a result, the newly designed areas communicate with the valuable materials and earthy colors of the original building fabric. A new interaction is created that respects the original architecture and at the same time leads into the present.
General Planning Poloni was able to support the client in this demanding project from the initial idea to handover and final accounting.
